After an industrial group reported a surprise increase in American inventories, oil prices fell in early Asian trade on Wednesday.

Brent crude oil futures fell by 19 cents, or 0.2%, to $84.82 per barrel at 0023 GMT. West Texas Intermediate U.S. crude oil futures fell 11 cents, or 0.1%, to $80.72 per barrel. Official US government data on oil and fuel inventories is expected at 1430 GMT. According to the American Petroleum Institute (API), U.S. crude oil inventories increased by 914,000 barrels in the week ended June 21, according to market sources familiar with the data.
