The Ghana Institute of Statistics (GSS) announced on Wednesday that the inflation rate in Ghana rose from 23.1% in May to 22.8% in June.

The slight drop in the inflation rate is attributed to the fall in non-food prices during the month of June. According to Samuel Kobina Annim, the government statistician at the GSS, “compared to May, non-food inflation fell by two percentage points to 21.6% in June, while food inflation increased by 1.4 percentage points to 24% in June.” For its part, inflation for locally produced and imported items remained at 25% and 17.5% respectively, the statistician added
