A press release from the Nigerien government read on July 17, 2024 on national television mentions that the reduction in gas and diesel prices at the pump will be effective as of July 23, 2024.

Gasoline will cost 499 FCFA (minus 41 FCFA) and diesel 618 FCFA (minus 20 FCFA), a decrease of 7.5% in both cases, indicates the same source. According to the Nigerien authorities, the objective of this measure is to allow “the reduction of the price of transport and consequently that of the price of basic necessities”.
