SA have signed a loan agreement of 1.4 billion US dollars. The fertilizer plant will be located in Soyo, a region of Angola rich in minerals and with easy access to natural gas, energy, water and a commercial port. It will stimulate industrialization, increase food security and position Angola as a food basket in the region. According to Professor Oramah, President of AfreximBank and of the Bank's Board of Directors, “this project was conceptualized in the wake of the Ukrainian crisis, which caused a shortage of cereals and fertilizers in Africa, with the resulting repercussions on food security on the continent. The challenge of relying on traditional supply markets outside the continent for our food security needs has been completely exposed. That is why projects like the one we are signing today should be supported not only in Angola, but across the continent. This is exactly why Afreximbank is fully committed to supporting the fertilizer factory
.”A noté qu' Afreximbank organizes the necessary debt financing in its capacity as the mandated lead arranger and also supports the raising of funds as one of the financial advisors through its Advisory and Capital Markets division.
