Inflation is reported to have slowed to 4.0% in June from 4.9% year-on-year in May in May. Health inflation has slowed and has been offset by the evolution of other categories such as clothing and footwear, hotels and restaurants and miscellaneous, where prices have increased at a faster pace. In July, food inflation slowed further to 5.1% year-on-year from 6.5% year-on-year in June, which was in part due to the base effect, as food prices rose at a much faster pace last year

The rate of rise in energy prices slowed to 11.5% year-on-year from 12.4% year-on-year in June and the rate of increase in fresh food prices slowed to 6.1% year-on-year from 7.1% year-on-year. The 12-month average inflation fell slightly to 3.8% year-on-year after staying at 3.9% year-on-year for three consecutive months
