In 2023 alone, the value of transactions increased by 146%. Transactions doubled to reach nearly 8.78 billion FCFA in 2023. The number of service points grew by 16.4% in one year, to over 1.1 million. In 2023, the sector's turnover rebounded dramatically, an increase of 45.9% to reach 252.2 billion FCFA, after a notable contraction of 23.6% in 2022. This recovery is largely attributed to the increase in transaction volume, stimulated by the entry of major players such as Wave Digital Finance in Senegal and SAMA Money in Mali

Also, the investment ratio quantifies the caution of EMEs in their investments. It sets a limit on the risks they can take with users' money. In UEMOA, this ratio should not exceed 25%, which means that less than 25% of electronic money can be placed in risky investments
