On Tuesday, the Federal Criminal Court opened the appeal trial for blanchiment Bulgarian mafia funds.

UBS has now appeared alongside two other co-defendants, following the takeover of Credit Suisse.

UBS recently tried to obtain the classification of the proceedings concerning it, arguing that the absorption by merger of Credit Suisse should have the same reasons my consequences than the death of a natural person. But the Court of Appeal of the Federal Criminal Court rejected this interpretation and emphasized that the merger contract provided not only for the takeover of the capital under management, staff and premises of Credit Suisse but also for ongoing proceedings.
