The Qatar Central Securities Depositary (EDAA) and the Central Depositary/Settlement Bank (DC/BR) of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) signed, on Thursday, October 3, 2024 in Istanbul, Turkey, a memorandum of understanding on the exchange of experiences and knowledge.

The documents were initialled by the Director General of EDAA, Mohammed Khalifa Al-Hetmi and the Director General of the UEMOA DC/BR, Birahim Diouf. The signing of these documents took place on the sidelines of the Summit of the Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories (AECSD) and the African and Middle East Depositary Association (AMEDA, Africa & Middle East Depositories Association) Summit held from

The memorandum of understanding identifies several areas of cooperation between the two institutions. Under the terms of the protocol, this cooperation includes, among other things, the mutual exchange of non-confidential information on products and services provided by the parties, regulations, issues related to securities transactions, technological innovations as well as risks.

This signature is part of the actions selected in the DC/BR 2021-2025 Business Plan, called “Aya”, whose vision is to “make DC/BR a world-class market infrastructure for managing securities and resolving transactions”.
