The Gafi Financial Action Task Force officially removed Senegal from the grey list at the end of the plenary meeting held last Friday, October 25 in Paris.

Senegal was added to the FATF gray list in February 2021. It committed itself to remedy the shortcomings identified by adopting a plan of twenty-nine (29) actions divided into forty-nine (49) measures. Its removal from this list is therefore the result of collaborative work involving the commitment of the highest authorities. This action reinforces the country's positive institutional image and reinforces, in the eyes of the investment community, the attractiveness of the national economy by ensuring a safer, more stable and more honest financial system. Through the members of the National Coordinating Committee for the Fight against Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism and the National Financial Information Processing Unit (Centif), the Senegalese State thanked the Intergovernmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa (Giaba), the experts of the Africa and Middle East Group of ICRG, the Gafi as well as the technical and financial partners for their support and their trust During the implementation of reforms.
