The actors of the livestock markets of Pouytenga, in the Center-Est region, and Fada N'Gourma, serif">in the Eastern region were sensitized on Friday November 08, 2024 on the crucial role of markets in the financing of terrorism in Burkina Faso, in particular through the trade in stolen animals

The various actors in the livestock markets of Pouytenga and Fada N'Gourma are invited to better organize themselves to report any suspicious activity, in particular the trafficking of ; stolen animals, from the Defense and Security Forces (FDS). According to the Minister of Security, the Divisional Police Commissioner Mahamadou SANA, the theft of animals and their illegal sale are one of the main sources of financing for terrorist groups. He placed particular emphasis on the need to strengthen surveillance and control mechanisms in these markets, with the collaboration of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in order to prevent these spaces from becoming points of sale for stolen livestock.
