The activity report for the year 2023 of the National Financial Information Processing Unit (Centif) indicates that the reporting activity has grown strongly.

“Eight hundred seven (807) statements of suspicion were received by Centif in 2023 against 330 in 2022, an increase of 145%. This is the strongest interannual growth since the creation of Centif. Banks and financial institutions transmitted 86% of Dos (suspicious transaction reports). This is followed by decentralized financial institutions (8%), followed by electronic money institutions (2%),” said the Centif report. She also pointed out that other sectors, in particular money transfer systems, insurance and reinsurance brokerage companies, real estate agents, precious materials and metals, notaries and foreign exchange brokers, are concerned respectively by 1.6%, 0.7%, 0.7%, 0.7%, 0.7%, 0.7%, 0.4%, 0.2% and 0.1%.
