Nigeria, a country with vast resources and economic ambitions, is positioned as a key player in agri-food processing, with a particular focus on the meat sector. Recognizing its untapped potential and the opportunities it offers, the federal government has just taken a major step forward by signing a strategic partnership with the Brazilian giant JBS, the world's largest meat producer

.

This agreement, formalized on November 21, provides for the construction of six processing plants for a massive investment of 2.5 billion dollars over a period of five years.

The group, which accounts for around 25% of the global market for beef and offal, also said that these facilities would contribute to the fight against food insecurity in Nigeria, where the size of the population is expected to double by 2050.

“Our aim is to build a strong partnership and help Nigeria fight food insecurity. The development of a sustainable food production chain generates a virtuous cycle of socio-economic progress for the population, especially for the most vulnerable groups,” said the managing director of JBS Global, Gilberto Tomazoni,

quoted in the statement.
