The Court for the Suppression of Economic and Financial Offences (CRIEF) has sentenced Amadou Damaro Camara, the former President of the National Assembly under Alpha Conde to 4 years in prison and a fine of 5 billion Guinean francs. He was found guilty of embezzlement of public funds and corruption.

Amadou Damaro Camara and five others are involved in this case. The prosecutor at the Court for the Suppression of Economic and Financial Offences Aly Toure is satisfied with the verdict handed down after several months of proceedings. For this fact, he declared that “it is a feeling of satisfaction for the Public Prosecutor's Office at the level of Crief because simply, we considered that the elements that we developed in court were facts that are really relevant to our texts: the embezzlement of public funds is proven, and the fact of corruption is also proven. We asked for five and the court compressed it down to 4 years in prison. It is at least a feeling of satisfaction and it clearly refers to the objectives of Crief, which says that any public official who jokes with state assets must under normal conditions be held accountable for these facts and pay a flat

fee.”
