In Cameroon, external financing amounted to 539 billion FCFA in the second quarter of 2024, against 701 billion FCFA in the same period in 2023, i.e. a decrease of 162 billion FCFA.

Le ministère des Finances a annoncé à travers les données du rapport de décembre 2024 du Comité technique de la balance de paiements que cette diminution est due à la “ decrease in net external financing from the non-banking private sector and the increase in net external assets of commercial banks”. External financing from the non-banking private sector was in fact 261 billion FCFA in the second quarter of 2024, against 328 billion FCFA in the same period in 2023, a decrease of 67 billion FCFA. In 2024, this financing from the non-banking private sector could amount to 564 billion FCFA, according to the Committee's estimates, an increase of 64 billion FCFA compared to the previous year when they stood at 400 billion FCFA
