Since Monday, January 20, the former director of the DGI and his co-defendants have been at the CRIET criminal session for their trial, after nearly five (5) years of pre-trial detention.

The former DGI manager and 7 other defendants are being prosecuted in a case of the disappearance of four (4) billion FCFA at the General Directorate of Taxes. They were arrested after the disappearance of several billions managed by the former manager. Carlos Adohouannon was arrested in Dakar, Senegal after several months on the run and placed under arrest warrant on September 18, 2020. They are being prosecuted for the acts of “criminal association, embezzlement of public funds, money laundering, complicity in the embezzlement of the last public and concealment of embezzlement of public funds”. Among the co-defendants are Mr. Blaise Salanon, arrested and placed under arrest warrant on October 24, 2019. He is accused of having an important role in the disappearance of this colossal amount
