Consumption continues to fall in a context of a weaker economy and the increasing deployment of renewable energies.
Australia, Malaysia, and the United States were the largest LNG suppliers to Japan in 2024. These three countries deliver 25.1 million tons, 10.2 million tons and 6.3 million tons respectively. The biggest drop in percentage terms was in supplies from China, which fell by almost 49% to 123,500 tonnes
