At the end of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, the Ivorian government announced the establishment of a new body called “Financial Supervision Group (GSF)”.

The GSF aims to strengthen the fight against money laundering, the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. According to the press release from the Council of Ministers, the GSF will be responsible for “organizing and managing the control of taxable persons and ensuring the enforcement of sanctions falling within the competence of the General Directorate of Customs”. In reality, Côte d'Ivoire was put under enhanced surveillance by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in 2024, indicating strategic shortcomings identified in its regime to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. According to Transparency International's Corruption Perception Index (IPC), in 2024, Côte d'Ivoire obtained a score of 45/100, placing it 69th out of 180 countries, marking an improvement over the score of 40/100 obtained the previous
