Une note d' information publié mercredi 19 février 2025 indique que la ECOWAS Investment and Development Bank (BIDC) has obtained accreditation to the Green Climate Fund (GCF). This status opens up new opportunities to support climate change initiatives across West Africa.

L'accréditation de la banque ameliore la capacité de cette dernière to finance climate change-resilient development in the ECOWAS region, based on its portfolio of sustainable development projects and its green advocacy initiatives. The BIDC is positioned as a direct channel for global climate funds in crucial regional projects. Through this partnership, the BIDC intends to strengthen its capacity to finance infrastructure, renewable energies and économie green initiatives, thus increasing the resilience of local communities in the face of the effects created. highlights of climate change and accelerating the transition économie to a low-carbon and climate-resilient environment, while aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

BIDC has already committed over $1 billion to sustainable development projects.
