The Government of the French Republic has granted financing worth 781 million euros to the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco, in the form of a loan from the French Treasury, for the purchase of 18 Alstom high-speed trains by the Office National des Chemins de Fer (ONCF), as part of the project to extend the high-speed line to & agrave; Marrakech

This financing, announced on Friday by a press release from the French Embassy, is part of the financial cooperation in the rail sector initiated in October 2024 by the two countries to support the program to purchase 168 trains from the Chérifian kingdom.

The 18 high-speed trains will be supplied by the French company Alstom, which has been based in Morocco for nearly 100 years. This is the Avelia Horizon model, double-deck trains with a capacity of up to 640 passengers and can reach a speed of 320 km/h

The note also reveals that the TGVs ordered by Morocco from Alstom belong to the Avelia Horizon model, which would have the capacity to accommodate up to 640 passengers with a speed of up to 320 km/h.
