From 8 to 9 April 2025, the BRVM Investment Days took place in London. This marks the great return of the Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM) to the European financial scene. The second day was marked by two round tables on Sustainable Finance and Islamic Finance led by twenty high-level experts.

L'objectif des Brvm Investment is to strengthen the links between the UEMOA zone and international investors, by highlighting investment opportunities and economic reforms under way in the eight member countries of the Union. Four different panels filled the first day of this workshop. The second day started with a closed round table, dedicated to green finance in the UEMOA region. The discussions explored the role that Africa can play in the global energy transition, through renewable energies, the protection of tropical forests, and innovation in sustainable agriculture. According to a press release, green finance is a key driver of sustainable development in Africa. This note states that “green finance refers to financial activities and investments that support environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and the transition to a low-carbon economy. It encompasses a range of financial instruments, including green bonds, sustainability-linked loans, and climate-focused investment funds, which direct capital towards renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable agriculture, and climate adaptation projects.”

Green finance aligns with the principles of environmental, social, and governance (Esg) investing, ensuring that economic growth does not come at the expense of the planet.

A en croire le même communiqué, la finance verte gagne en Afrique du terrain while the continent is facing significant climate challenges, including drought, desertification and rising sea levels.
