On May 6, 2025, the Nigerian fintech iFutur received official approval from the BCEAO as a payment institution. This approval, a prerequisite for offering digital financial services in the 8 states of the UEMOA, allows it to consider expanding its activities there

iFutur plans to launch its services in other WAEMU countries. According to Sidikou Boubacar, its CEO, “this approval marks a major step in our pan-African ambition. Our objective is clear: to make financial services accessible everywhere, by transforming each neighborhood store into a multi-service point for populations.” The only Nigerian fintech certified PCI DSS, an approval required in particular for the issuance of bank cards and guaranteeing the protection of sensitive data, the company has never hidden its desire for expansion. iFutur now wishes to offer its solutions to various players in the sub-region. The fintech hopes to find partners who can support its expansion both technically and financially
