A financial meeting was organized on Friday 30 May 2025 in Cotonou. The event, aimed at commercial banks and management and intermediation companies, is organized by the African Guarantee and Economic Cooperation Fund (Fagace

).

The financial meeting held in Cotonou allowed Fagace to strengthen institutional ties with financial players and to sign agreements with some and then to distinguish two based on their performance. On the occasion, five agreements were signed and two awards were awarded. This initiative by Fagace is part of a dynamic of strengthening institutional links with financial actors in its member states. The objective is twofold. First, it is a question of promoting the guarantee and risk-sharing mechanisms developed by Fagace. Second, it is a question of listening to and better understanding the expectations of financial institutions in terms of access to financing, project structuring and product innovation

.

For Basile Tchakounté, secretary general of Fagace, this meeting is “an opportunity to do more than discuss”. Fagace has signed partnership agreements with financial institutions. These are: Boa Benin, Sonibank, Bange Bank, Bange Bank, Sgi Benin and Africaine de Gestion d'Intermediation (AGI). According to the Fagace authorities, these agreements aim to strengthen the use of Fagace guarantees in the context of the financing of projects carried out by Beninese companies, in particular Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs

).

According to Basile Tchakounté, “these partnerships lay solid foundations for more effective, faster and more targeted joint action.” The managers of these five banks indicated that this partnership is an instrument that will make it possible to increase the interventions of their institutions and to boost their financing for the benefit of the Beninese economy, to increase their support for structuring projects in the field

.

In addition, two financial players were able to be identified through an award ceremony. The award for the partner of excellence was awarded to the Sahelo-Saharan Bank for Investment and Trade (Bsic - Bénin sa). As for the premium partner award, it was awarded to Biic
