Through his communication of Thursday, July 3, 2025, the executive secretary of the National Financial Intelligence Unit (CENAREF), Adler Kisula alerted Congo to the risk of financial isolation.

Le executive secretary of CENAREF indicated that the Congolese authorities must act quickly to avoid the DRC being classified on the blacklist of the Financial Action Task Force ( GAFI ) , causing his international and diplomatic financial isolation. The latter therefore listed the actions implemented to avoid escalation next October

It should be noted that the Action Group against Money Laundering in Central Africa (GABAC) had negatively evaluated the anti-money laundering system in the DRC in 2018. Thus, the GAFI had placed the DRC on the list of countries under reinforced surveillance, known as “gray” in October 2022.

The CENAREF awaits the enactment of the anti-money laundering law passed in Parliament and invites all structures public and private organizations in the DRC to mobilize for this cause.
