Dakar has hosted the 56th ordinary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (CIP-UEMOA) since Monday, July 14, 2025. The main items on the agenda are the review of the forum's budget and the implementation of community expenses.

The 56th ordinary session of the CIP-UEMOA takes place in a subregional context marked by both “persistent economic challenges and a dynamic of structural reforms”, according to the second vice-president of the Senegalese National Assembly, Rocky Ndiaye. Through her intervention, she placed particular emphasis on the importance of examining the draft 2026 budget as well as the multiannual budgetary programming framework 2026-2028, considered as “planning instruments that reflect the common ambitions of the Member States”. According to him, the interparliamentary committee plays an essential role in the institutional architecture of UEMOA, by ensuring “balanced parliamentary representation” and “democratic control” of the policies implemented by the bodies of the Union
