On July 31, 2025, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced Benin's membership in the International Platform on Sustainable Finance (IPSF), a selective network launched in 2019, alongside giants such as China, the European Union and Canada.

Benin has formalized its IPSF membership. The country thus joins a group of countries committed to the harmonization of green finance frameworks globally. Benin thus becomes the 21st ᵉ member of the platform, and the third African country to sit on it with Morocco and Senegal. The IPSF aims to promote the harmonization of regulatory frameworks for sustainable finance globally, in order to facilitate capital flows to green investments. The current members of IPSF represent 54% of global GDP and more than half of the world's population

The Beninese authorities announced in a press release that this membership reflects the country's desire to “contribute fully to the global climate transition and to international cooperation in sustainable finance”. Since 2021, Benin has been committed to sustainable bond issues, gradually strengthening the integration of environmental issues into its public policies. This membership in IPSF could thus consolidate these efforts by making Benin's financial instruments more readable and attractive for international investors
