The African Development Bank Group launched the Cap-Verde 2025 Country Focus Report on 30 July 2025. This document highlights how the island country can optimize its capital to accelerate national development

The launch of the 2025 Cape Verde Country Focus Report was organized in hybrid mode, in Praia and online. It brought together senior government officials, including Cape Verde's Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Olavo Correia, development partners, academia and representatives of the private sector. The report provides an in-depth analysis of Cape Verde's economic trajectory, registering real GDP growth of 7.3% in 2024, driven by the recovery of tourism and services. Growth is projected at 5.3% in 2025 and 4.9% in 2026. Macroeconomic indicators show a positive trend, such as inflation fell from 3.7% in 2023 to 1% in 2024, public debt fell from 144% of GDP in 2021 to 107.7% in 2024, and the current account deficit narrowed to 0.9% of

The report highlights that Cape Verde's foreign exchange reserves reached $815.9 million, equivalent to 7.1 months of import coverage, while foreign direct investment was $430.4 million in 2023. Remittances totaled $305.4 million, offering stable support in foreign currencies. To meet its structural transformation needs until 2030, Cape Verde must mobilize approximately up to 163 million dollars annually, or 7.3% of GDP
