As announced in April by Akrake Petroleum by the operator of the Sèmè offshore oil field redevelopment project in Benin, a drilling campaign has been relaunched, according to information published on 12 August by the local press.

The drilling campaign aims to relaunch the Sèmè oil field, located off the coast of Sème-Kraké. The project is led by Akrake Petroleum, a subsidiary of Rex International Holding, which has a 76% stake in the block, alongside the Beninese State (15%) and Octogone Trading (9%). Currently, work is aimed at drilling three new wells and installing a production unit and a storage platform, necessary to extract, process and store oil offshore

According to Akrake's forecasts, the facilities are expected to be operational by the end of the year.
