At the 2025 Africa Summit organized by Standard Chartered Bank in Lagos, the outgoing President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina detailed a new financial commitment from the Bank Group.

The outgoing president of the African Development Bank said that in 2025, Africa had 12 of the 20 fastest-growing economies in the world. He said in a document presented at the Standard Chartered Bank Africa 2025 Summit that the AfDB and its partners mobilized $2.2 billion (approximately 3.4 trillion naira) to set up special agro-industrial processing zones in Nigeria. According to Akinwumi, Africa's economic growth is expected to increase from 3.3% in 2024 to 3.9% in 2025 and 4.0% in 2026

Also, the outgoing president believes that against all odds, 21 African countries should exceed 5% growth in 2025, some even exceeding 7%.
