On Friday, August 15, 2025, several cooperation agreements on cross-border security were signed between Guinea and Mali. The signing was made in Conakry, after a two-day meeting between the defense and security services of the two countries

The agreements focus on the sharing of resources between the two countries to meet security challenges along their borders and the fight against cross-border crime against the background of the worrying rise in terrorism in the sub-region. They also concern the facilitation of trade and the free movement of people and goods. Both parties agreed to implement a previously signed memorandum of understanding on inter-state transhumance, to reduce border harassment and to strengthen their bilateral cooperation ties

These agreements were signed by the Guinean Minister of Security and Civil Protection, Bachir Diallo, and the Malian Minister for Malians Living Abroad and African Integration, Moussa Ag Attaher.
