On August 12, 2025, the Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Dr. Mark Cyubahiro Bagabe, and the African Development Bank Country Director, Aissa Touré Sarr, signed an agreement for a study of the second phase of Gabiro Agribusiness Hub and Kivu Cold Group.
The first phase of Gabiro Agribusiness Hub (GAH) was supported by the Rwandan government to the tune of US$118 million, or 5600 hectares in the Rwimiyaga region and Karangazi in the Nyagatare district. This project is implemented by the Israeli Center NETAFIM Ltd. This center is developing equipment to irrigate crops and is preparing for the second phase of GAH, which will prepare ten thousand hectares, double the first
phase.The entire GAH project will cover 15,600 ha in both phases. The first phase reaches 98% of its execution. It will be presented to the Government next September.
The second phase will affect the Gatsibo district where it will attract more than one hundred million dollars, or more than 145 billion Frw.
Kivu Cold Group for its part was launched in 2021 by various companies from Rwanda and Japan, and continues to build modern and electric cold rooms to support agricultural development in Saharan Africa.
