The first extraordinary session of the National Assembly of Senegal was held on Monday, August 18, 2025, under the presidency of El Malick Ndiaye. Four bills submitted by the government to the 15th legislature were examined

.

The bills examined concern in particular the creation of the National Anti-Corruption Office (bill no. 12/2025), the status and protection of whistleblowers (draft law no. 13/2025), access to information (bill no. 13/2025), access to information (bill no. 14/2025), and the declaration of assets (bill no. 15/2025).

This series of bills is “timely” according to Abdoulaye Tall, chairman of the Law Committee, because it strengthens the legal arsenal against corruption and promotes better governance practices.

If the law is passed, Senegal will become the first French-speaking sub-Saharan country to have such a mechanism. Something to inspire others wants to believe Jimmy Kande, Director of West and French-speaking Africa of the platform for the protection of whistleblowers in

Africa.
