On Thursday, August 14, 2025, the Special Investigative Chamber of the Court for the Suppression of Economic and Financial Offences (CRIEF) confirmed the order extending pretrial detention against several former senior Customs officials.

General Moussa Camara, former Director General, Colonel Macky Zagreb Diallo, former Deputy Director General, Lieutenant Colonel Fodé Camara, Head of Accounting Division, and Léonie Plegne are the prisoners. They were seized by the defense lawyers, who were hoping to obtain an annulment of the original decision. The Special Chamber did not succeed in the case of the four officials. Counsel denounce what they consider to be an obstacle by the special prosecutor's office to the temporary release of their clients, considering that their continued detention is “illegal” under articles 263 and 312 of the Code of Criminal Procedure

Deputy Special Prosecutor at CRIEF, Malick Marcel Oulare, “none of the four were released. They remain in custody at the central house. The Chamber has confirmed the extension and they will remain there for the time being.”
