Afarching finance in general and that of Côte d'Ivoire in particular has just lost one of its important members. The founder and CEO of Phoenix Capital Management (PCM), Michel Abrogoua passed away on the night of January 27 to 28, 2021.

Sad news has just surprised the world of finance in Africa. Founder and Managing Director of Phoenix Capital Management, the late Michel Abrogoua was a pioneer of private equity in Africa. One of the first Africans to enter the private equity business. Prince Ébrié continued his activities of fund management and financial engineering relentlessly.
The CEO of Phoenix Capital Management SA (PCM), Michel Abrogoua holds  an MBA in Finance and Banking obtained in 1980 at Adelphi University (New York) with distinction. He was a recognized specialist in the African financial sector with more than 35 years in the business.
Michel Abrogoua began his career as Chief Financial Officer of IBM France for Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Benin and Togo. He then worked at the International Finance Corporation (World Bank) as Deputy Regional Representative for West and Central Africa in the Abidjan office and as Investment Officer in the Africa Department in Washington.
At the request of the IFC in 1997, he joined the English financial group Framlington Ltd, a subsidiary of HSBC, a manager of international investment funds. He was supervisor of Framlington's Sub-Saharan Africa activities as Managing Director of the West Africa subsidiary in Abidjan and President of the Central Africa subsidiary in Cameroon.
Before being promoted to Regional Director of Emerging Market Partnership, american fund manager, partner of AIG in 2005, he participated in the creation and management of several investment funds. One of his last activities was the structuring of PCM around the financial and real estate poles.
