The World Bank Group and the Government of Burkina Faso on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, in Ouagadougou held a joint review of the performance of the portfolio of projects and programs financed by this institution.

The two sides exchanged under the theme: "What tools and instruments to improve the performance of the World Bank's portfolio of projects and programs in Burkina Faso in a difficult security and health context".

For the Minister of Economy, Finance and Development, Lassané Kaboré, this review will make it possible to take stock of the difficulties of execution of projects and programs, to examine the flexibilities offered by the parties in terms of procurement in an emergency context and to imagine mechanisms effective monitoring and evaluation to optimize the impact of projects.
"Our ultimate goal is to find ways and means to absorb the resources that the World Bank makes available to us and that must be used for the benefit of the people," said Minister Kaboré.

The World Bank's Resident Representative in Burkina Faso, Maimouna Mbow Fam, believes that in view of the negative consequences of COVID-19 on health, the economy and food security, it is necessary to act quickly and well to meet both the most urgent needs of the population and create the conditions for 'an inclusive economic recovery for sustainable development.
