Treasury bonds: Senegal raises 55 billion FCFA on the WAMU financial market

At the end of its issue of assimilable treasury bonds (BAT) with a maturity of 182 days, the Public Treasury of Senegal auctioned on April 9, 2020 an amount of 55 billion FCFA on the financial market of the West African Monetary Union (UMOA) .

The issuer auctioned 50 billion FCFA. Investors' overall bids amounted to 139.550 billion FCFA, representing a coverage rate of the amount put up for auction of 279.10%. At the end of the auction operation, the Public Treasury withheld 55 billion FCFA and rejected the remaining 84.550 billion FCFA, representing an absorption rate of 39.41%.
The weighted average return was 2.94%. For their part, the weighted average rate and the marginal rate stood at 2.89% and 3.43% respectively.
These funds will enable the country to cover the financing needs of the State budget. For this second quarter of 2021, the authorities have expressed the wish to issue 250 billion FCFA against 225 billion FCFA in the first quarter of 2021, an increase of 25 billion FCFA.
