In plenary on Tuesday April 13, 2021, the National Assembly voted unanimously, these various laws.
Three bills have been submitted for consideration by the National Assembly with the aim of financing three solar energy development projects. These are bills to finance the West Africa-Burkina Faso regional energy trade development policy program, and two other laws to finance the "YELEEN" project for the development of solar power plants. and strengthening the national electricity system.
These laws were unanimously adopted by the 123 voting deputies during a plenary session chaired by the head of parliament, Alassane Bala Sakandé. With a total amount of more than 35 billion CFA francs, the Program for financing the regional energy trade development policy in West Africa-Burkina Faso will, according to the Minister in charge of energy, to increase regional electricity trade with a view to enhancing energy security, reducing the cost of electricity and supporting economic growth in the region.
Concerning the two other bills adopted by Parliament, the Minister in charge of energy indicated that it was following the successful experience of the Zagtouli photovoltaic solar power plant that the government decided, in 2017, to the implementation of a program based on solar energy, through the development of a solar program Burkina 2025, called "Yeleen".
