In a press release, the Senegalese section of Tranparency International informs that it has set up "Territorial Committees for Tax Justice (Ctjf) with the financial support of Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) and Oxfam" to support Senegal in claiming the FCfa 120 billion to Barrick Gold.

Barrick Gold Corporation, the Canadian giant of gold production, is subject to a tax adjustment involving 120 billion FCfa from the State of Senegal. The Canadian mining company refuses to pay this penalty. He would have offered to pay only 5 billion CFA francs. The Civil Forum is on the side of the government to "demand that Barrick Gold comply with the law by paying the sums due to the State of Senegal". The civil society organization justifies this claim by the fact that Senegal "is confronted with situations of cross-border financial crimes due to tax evasion and other means generating illicit financial flows".
