According to Maurizio Caio, French-speaking Africa is full of interesting companies, good entrepreneurs, especially in Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal. “But they don't exactly match our strategy. It's not a lack of interest but rather the fact that we don't find the anticipated dynamism there. If you take Partech, for example, they have never invested in French-speaking African countries. In a way, unfortunately, I find that there is not enough risk appetite in these countries,” he notes. He believes that in Africa there is much more to do than banks and insurance, neo-banks and neo-insurance.
