The financial services sector will contribute, through the new Special Purpose Fund (SPF), to strengthening Mauritius' position as an innovative and competitive jurisdiction for transnational investments between Africa and the rest of the world. The Minister of Financial Services and Good Governance, Mahen Kumar Seeruttun officially launched the tool. The Ministry of Financial Services and Good Governance, in collaboration with the Financial Services Commission (FSC), has launched the new Special Purpose Fund (SPF) at FSC House in Ebène. During his opening speech, the Minister stressed that the challenges, both at the international and national levels, accentuated by a health crisis of colossal proportions, have accelerated the need to transform and reinvent companies in order to become a viable competitor in the league of financial centers.
With the introduction of the FPS, Minister Seeruttun stressed that the financial services sector will contribute in particular to: meeting the needs of international fund promoters; reviving investor interest; and strengthening Mauritius' economic resilience. The sector will also work to strengthen Mauritius' position as a destination of choice for investors and expand our offering to international investors looking for a financial centre that complies with international best practices and the highest levels of transparency.
