Cameroon is launching a new subsidy window for the cocoa and coffee sectors, endowed with 6.3 billion FCFA in 2021. The Development Fund for the cocoa and coffee sectors (Fodecc) presented this July 6 in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, this new counter which will be officially opened in two days.

The Producer Counter is the new mechanism that will allow cocoa and/or coffee producers from the various agricultural areas of the country to directly obtain mass or à la carte government subsidies. For Samuel Donatien Nengue, administrator of Fodecc, this is a device that will revolutionize the cocoa-coffee sectors by repositioning local farmers at the heart of the competitiveness of the sector thanks to information of choice, to targeted aid. According to him, for the 2021 financial year, the budget envelopes amount to 6.3 billion FCFA. But they are expected to grow exponentially to reach 50 billion FCFA, in five years after the running-in period. This Window is open to all producers, subject to the dual condition of the ability to co-finance agricultural investment and to align themselves with digital technology. Three types of subsidies classified into two main categories are concerned by the Producer Window. The first concerns mass subsidies made up of agricultural inputs. Categories 2 and 3 relate to agricultural equipment and machinery, as well as production support infrastructure.
