The Guinean Head of Government announces that with the start of the African Continental Free Trade Area (ZLECAF), Guinea could export its energy to other countries in the sub-region such as Senegal. Ibrahima Kassory Fofana spoke, this Friday, July 9, 2021, on the efforts made by the Head of State in the energy sector.

The Prime Minister ensures that under the leadership of President Alpha Condé, the energy capacity installed in Guinea has increased from 274 Megawatts in 2010 to 1200 Megawatts, or about 335% increase. “I am pleased to recall that under the impetus of President Alpha Condé, the energy challenge in Guinea has been taken up or taken up like never before. It is also possible to observe that the resolute commitment of the President of the Republic in this sector produces tangible results whose direct and indirect effects are as clearly visible on the well-being of households as on economic activities ( ...) From the recent completion of Souapiti, the country's second hydroelectric power station in a decade, to the restructuring of the company, the reforms and actions undertaken have continued to demonstrate the increasingly significant, tangible progress , in this crucial sector of the economy,” he said. The corollary of this spectacular progress is the significant improvement in the rate of access to electricity in Guinea, which rose from 18% in 2010 to 46% today.
