The National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD) based in Dakar has published the Industrial Production Price Index (IPPI). According to these data, industrial activity in Senegal is marked, in June 2021, by a 4.7% increase in the prices of industrial production excluding cotton ginning, compared to those of the corresponding month of the year 2020.

In the first half of 2021, average prices increased by 2.8% compared to those of the same period of 2020. As for cotton ginning prices, the ANSD reports that they recorded an increase of 4.4% in annual variation. In addition, they increased by 3.6% in the first half of 2021, compared to their levels in the corresponding period of 2020. “This development is related to the increase in the prices of manufactured products (+8 .0%), in particular, those of refining and coking, chemicals, metallurgical and foundry products, as well as those of the food industry”, explains the ANSD. However, there was a 5.1% drop in the prices of extractive industry products and a stagnation in those of environmental industry products as well as those of electricity, water and gas.
