The Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) informs that the average amount of bids on the weekly auction window has improved. It experienced a slight increase of 2% in July 2021 compared to the previous month.

According to data established by the issuing institute based in Dakar, these submissions amounted to 3,411.8 billion FCFA against 3,344.9 billion FCFA in June 2021 and 3,457.5 billion FCFA a year earlier, i.e. an increase of 2.00% over one month and a decrease of 1.32% over one year. The BCEAO reports that the auctions have been carried out since March 31, 2020 at a fixed rate, namely the minimum interest rate for tenders, which has been reduced from 2.50% to 2.0% as of June 24, 2020. Under the interbank market, the average weekly volume of transactions, all maturities combined, stood at 461.9 billion FCFA in July 2021, down 6% compared to the previous month. The weighted average rate stood at 2.67% during the month under review compared to 2.59% the previous month and 3.01% in July 2020. Compared to the one-week compartment, BCEAO data indicate that the average volume of operations increased from CFAF 332.7 billion in June 2021 to CFAF 293.1 billion in July 2021. The average interest rate stood at 2.48% in July 2021 against 2.33% in June 2021.
