The Sixth Ministerial Meeting of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action opened on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in Washington. On the occasion, the participants underlined the crucial need to integrate the climate into economic and financial policies.

The Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action met as part of the 2021 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund. Finance Ministers shared their views on common challenges related to the development and implementation of climate policies from a macro-fiscal and financial perspective. The discussion was opened by US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Maldives Minister of State for Finance Ismail Ali Manik. At this meeting, the finance ministers underlined their key role in the fight against climate change, stressing the crucial need to integrate climate considerations into economic and financial policies and the way to progress in this ambitious agenda. Finance ministers also discussed reforms that support a just and affordable transition to low-carbon economic growth, including carbon pricing and green budgeting.
