With its surplus of geothermal energy, Kenya wants to become a bitcoin mining Eldorado. Several companies that make low-carbon mining a trademark have already approached the country's main geothermal energy producer.

Kenya hopes to accompany Bitcoin miners in their green transition. For example, Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen), Kenya's leading geothermal power producer, has invited Bitcoin mining farms to set up shop in the country, to take advantage of its excess production. Kenya is the largest producer of geothermal power in Africa. Its production is estimated at 14,000 MW of electricity with an installed capacity of only 863 MW.
