The West African Development Bank (BOAD) has approved a sum of 18.8 billion CFA francs to support several projects implemented in Benin. The financing agreement was signed this Tuesday, June 21, 2022 between the President of BOAD, Serge Ekué and the Minister of State, in charge of the Economy and Finance, Romuald Wadagni.

The financing agreement concerns the second phase of the project for the sedentarization of ruminant herds (ProSeR) and technical studies for three other road infrastructure construction projects. The second phase of ProSeR has been financed to the tune of 17.5 billion CFA francs. The other funds released, as an advance, concern feasibility studies for the Savalou-Abomey road construction project (88km), its 5km ramp, a bridge over the Azokan River, to the tune of 300 million CFA francs and the construction of a new road to the north of the country. of 300 million CFA francs and the national program for the development of rural roads (1st tranche of 1000km and 2nd tranche of 1000km), for a total amount of one billion CFA francs.

At the end of the signing ceremony of the financing agreement, President Serge Ekué emphasized that these documents initialleds attest to the collaboration between BOAD and Benin on various development projects and Benin's support for all the Bank's activities. Announcing that the total commitments of the bank in Benin are estimated at nearly 900 billion CFA francs. He said that the discussions focused on several areas of cooperation between the two partners. "On the one hand, the project of the economic zone of Glo-Djigbé, agriculture and energy, and on the other hand, the project of the economic zone of Glo-Djigbé.energy and on the other hand, another project on health and education," he said.
