Oil is stalling behind, driven by fears of recession that weigh on demand. Thus, the two world standards for crude oil are evolving at their levels prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Around 09:00 GMT (11:00 CET), a barrel of Brent from the North Sea for delivery in October was worth 0.48% at 94.57 dollars. Meanwhile, a barrel of American West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for delivery in September was 0.38%, at $88.88. However, Brent remains up by more than 21% over the year and the American WTI by more than 18%. The Bank of England announced on Thursday that it expected the United Kingdom to go into recession for more than a year by the end of 2022. A “grim prognosis” came at a time when the Bank announced its biggest increase in interest rates since 1995.
