Several weeks after US President Joe Biden's visit to Saudi Arabia, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its allies raised Nigeria's oil production quota. Joe Biden had tried to get major oil producers to pump more crude to reduce prices. OPEC and its allies raised Nigeria's oil production quota to 1.830 million barrels per day in September from 1.826 million barrels per day in August. This decision was taken at its 31st OPEC and non-OPEC ministerial meeting. In a statement released Wednesday, the organization notes that the dynamic and rapidly changing fundamentals of the oil market require a continuous assessment of market conditions. Recall that in recent months, Nigeria has not respected OPEC production quotas. The country has been faced with endless oil thefts that have affected production.
