Staying in Libreville, Gabon, the regional director of the Chartered group was received by the Prime Minister on 30 August. The group, which wishes to support the government in the exploiting the country's wealth and the process of monetizing carbon credits, is already seeing itself as a future strategic partner.

Led by its Regional Director General, a Standard Chartered delegation was received by Prime Minister Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda. An opportunity for the group to express its ambitions for Gabon. While Gabon's forest covers 85% of the territory, Standard Chartered Bank, which in 2015 had already been recruited by Libreville as a new council, says it wants to help the country take advantage of its greenhouse gas mitigation efforts.

“We also want to support the government in its monetization process and reaffirm our commitment to the government not only as a bank, but also as a partner,” said Lamin Kemba Manjang. “The financial sector is one of the strengths of the Gabonese economy,” commented the head of government. “This major international bank wants to support us in our carbon monetization project, which will allow us to both better protect the forest and better finance our development,” added Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda.
