The stock of gross overdue claims from UEMOA banks fell by 23.4 billion (-0.8%) to 3,059.4 billion at the end of December 2021, compared with 3,082.8 billion a year Earlier.

Based on reserves of 1,992.4 billion, which fell by 44.1 billion (-2.2%), the banking system's net overdue claims amounted to 1,067.0 billions at the end of 2021, an increase of 20.7 billion (+2.0%). The UEMOA Banking Commission, which gives the figures, indicates that the gross rate of deterioration of the Union's portfolio was 10.3% at the end of December 2021 compared with 11.6% in 2020, an improvement of 1.3 percentage points.

The net rate also contracted by 0.4 points to 3.9% in 2021 compared with 4.3% a year earlier, and the provisioning rate stood at 65.1% by the end of 2021 December 2021, down 0.9 percentage points compared to the same period of the previous year.
